Featured Student: Sthephany Escandell

Sthephany Escandell is majoring in Psychology with an emphasis in brain, behavior, and health. Sthephany plans to graduate in the Spring of 2020.

Why did you major in (whatever your major is)? After taking Intro to Psychology my first semester of freshman year to fulfill one of my social science general education courses, I realized I loved learning about why people behave the way they do. I continued to take classes in the major and chose my emphasis based on my passion for the biological approach of psychology.

What are your plans for after graduation? After graduation, I hope to find a job in higher education and help spread the word about the importance of having a college education.

What academic experience or accomplishment are you most proud of? I am most proud of my internships in higher education, specifically career coaching for the Office of Admissions and assisting in the College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. These opportunities have helped me learn about what higher education is all about and prepare me for my future goals post-graduation.

What single thing do you hope to accomplish at UWGB before graduating? Before graduating, I hope to be able to establish a prospective career opportunity that will not only make me happy but contribute to the common good of my community.

What do you do for fun? For fun, I like to read psychology articles and learn about the latest research in neuroscience and biological psychology.

What else do you want people to know about you? I would like people to know that it is important to get involved while in college. The relationships you create will help you achieve your future goals, whether they involve attending graduate school or beginning a career. If you communicate with your professors, you will be able to do research and teaching assistantships as well as internships that will help you grow as a student and professional.
