Vanessa Sager is majoring in Psychology with a Brain, Behavior, and Health, and Mental Health Emphasis. She plans on graduating in the summer of 2021.
Why did you major in Psychology? I developed a passion for psychology through experiences surrounding myself and those around me, in addition to, an overall fascination for the framework of behavior. I also feel as though it allows one to make an impact in the lives of others, which is satisfactory in itself.
What are your plans after graduation? I plan to attend graduate school and obtain a masters or Psy. D in clinical psychology. Career wise, I plan to work with adolescents in an inpatient setting and specialize in mood and personality disorders.
What academic experience or accomplishment are you most proud of? I am most proud of my ability to time manage and experience a myriad of things during my short time at campus. I currently work two jobs, one working with children with autism spectrum disorder. While employed there, I have developed a love for the kids and feel as though I am always thinking about new ways to optimize their therapy.
What single thing do you hope to accomplish at UWGB before graduating? I hope to experience more career and research based opportunities.
What do you do for fun? I love painting and drawing.
What else do you want people to know about you? Looking at myself from an outsiders point of view, it seems really intimidating to take on a multitudinous amount of activities at one time in addition to extra classes. I just want people to know that it is definitely doable to take on multiple career opportunities and still graduate early with good grades. I am happy that I have taken all of the opportunities that have come to me including both of my places of employment and my internship at Foxview Intermediate School. My advice is to take on as many opportunities as possible while still maintaining your mental health and to make sure to schedule time out for yourself and what you enjoy.
