Featured Student: Isabel Taubel

Isabel Taubel is a double major in Environmental Policy and Planning with the Regional Design emphasis, and Design Arts. She is also minoring in Geography. She plans on graduating in the spring of 2022.

Why did you major in (whatever your major is)? Before arriving at UW Green Bay, I was drawn in by the idea of the Design Arts major.  Because of the variety of classes involved in completing this major, it creates a very rounded knowledge base and perspective towards art and design. After my Freshman year at college, I had discovered another major that drew my interest: Environmental Policy and Planning. I chose this major, because I am fascinated by the environment around us, how it works, and what we can do to sustain it as well as improve it.

What are your plans after graduation? Currently, my plans after graduation are to continue my education in the planning and design field towards a masters degree. My education on these topics will never truly end. The world, and the environment right in front of us is constantly changing. My goal right now is to develop the skills needed to know how I can help communities to adapt and grow with these changes.

What academic experience or accomplishment are you most proud of? Over the summer of 2020, I was very fortunate to be able to take on an internship for Neenah’s Community Development and Assessment department. While there, I met many hard-working city officials, gained real job experience, and learned so much about what it really means to be looking out for your community.

What single thing do you hope to accomplish at UWGB before graduating? Before graduating, I hope to gain as much knowledge and experience from all of my remaining classes as possible. I want to make the most out of every semester I can, and finish my college years strong.

What do you do for fun? During my time here, I have spent countless hours outside simply enjoying nature and on walking trails.

What else do you want people to know about you? I would like people to know that I am truly grateful for my years here at UW Green Bay. I have had life-changing experiences here, and I know that I would not fully be the person I am today without the people, places, and opportunities that surround me here.
