Common CAHSS 2021: Rashomon Effect: Truth as Perceived Reality (w/ Dr. Dinesh Yadav)

Common CAHSS 2021: Rashomon Effect: Truth as Perceived Reality with Dr. Dinesh Yadav was recorded live Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Our observation, understanding, and reporting of a reality is an outcome of contested interpretation of events. Subjectivity in our perception is a result of situational, social and cultural differences. I will discuss contextual interpretation of reality as truth with reference from film Rashomon.

The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences for the third annual Common CAHSS Conference 2021 event themed “Truth, Information, Misinformation, and Democracy,” sought to explore the role of the modern university in supporting the “continual and fearless sifting and winnowing by which alone the truth can be found,” which has been part of the University of Wisconsin identity for over a century.

This Common CAHSS 2021: Truth talk was recorded in Studio One in the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.
