Common CAHSS 2021: Music of Tribute, Music of Truth with Dr. Adam Gaines and Dr. Michelle McQuade Dewhirst was recorded live Tuesday, November 30, 2021.
This recital presents music that reflects two contrasting interpretations of the Common CAHSS theme. Adam Gaines will share tributes to heroes of American democracy composed by Amy Dunker, and Michelle McQuade Dewhirst will perform a work inspired by the search for personal truth by Alex Shapiro.
The College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences for the third annual Common CAHSS Conference 2021 event themed “Truth, Information, Misinformation, and Democracy,” sought to explore the role of the modern university in supporting the “continual and fearless sifting and winnowing by which alone the truth can be found,” which has been part of the University of Wisconsin identity for over a century.
This Common CAHSS 2021: Truth talk was recorded in Fort Howard Hall in the Weidner Center for the Performing Arts.
