This is a wonderful presentation on an age group that often gets overlooked. I have older parents and step-parents and much of what you spoke about as far as acceptance of aging and death going a long way in preventing the depressive thoughts that can accompany the thought of dying. The discussions you detailed are similar to conversations that I have had with the mature adults in my life. In a recent conversation with my step-father he mentioned that staying active in one’s community, learning new things, and finding things that are fulfilling helps him to overcome the negative thoughts he has about not being able to physically do the things he used to do which is similar to what B.B. and M.J. mentioned.
