GROUNDED

Faculty Sponsor: Noah Simon (theatre)

GROUNDED is a play by George Brant about how an unexpected pregnancy ends an ace fighter pilot’s career in the sky. Reassigned to operate military drones from a windowless trailer outside Las Vegas, she hunts terrorists by day and returns to her family each night. As the pressure to track a high-profile target mounts, the boundaries begin to blur between the desert in which she lives and the one she patrols half a world away. This was an assignment for the Introduction To Theatre class. After reading the play, students were required to create a work of art that expressed what the story inspired in them. This is a sampling of those works.

  1. This is such a great idea for an assignment! I really enjoyed seeing the different ways that the students chose to express what inspired them about this play. The three different examples chosen are meaningful to me because it is a good representation of how some people choose to describe their feelings in pictures, some choose to write about it, and others do both. I find all of 3 of the examples very moving and creative; it makes me want to see the play that inspired all of this creativity and it makes me wonder which artistic method I would have chosen to express my inspiration.
